"John Wayne tried to assault Sacheen Littlefeather at the 1973 Oscars. But let’s keep talking about how the “slapping incident” was the award show’s most violent episode ever."
LakotaMan

And after her apperance when "Littlefeather headed backstage and discovered to her dismay people doing stereotypical impressions of Native Americans, miming tomahawk chops and doing war cries."

I think the whole damn thing is much ado about nothing. Humans make mistakes all the time. I've slapped a couple of people in my life. However, I didn't have millions watching. This was an opportunity for people to take sides, appear superior than others and mock those with whom they didn't agree. IOW, get their 15 min. on top of their existing notoriety I want the world to move on....

Before Will Smith, these five people were also disciplined by the academy
Tom Yun

This comes a week after Smith had resigned from the academy and issued a public apology, where he said he would "fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct."

But the "Fresh Prince" star isn't the first to be disciplined by the governing body. In its 94-year history, at least five people have been ...

I am one of the few that approve of what Smith did. Chris Rock is an asshole who hides behind his "comedian" status to get away with a lot of below the belt stuff. Maybe no he will think a bit before his mouth starts moving before his brain.

Mel Gibson is a heavy duty anti-semite and he's still welcome (and being hired).
