Ya know, this didn't receive much coverage at all. And, of course, because it was a white man it's called a hate crime and he is not called a terrorist....

(CNN)The 18-year-old man who allegedly shot and killed 10 people at a Buffalo supermarket Saturday afternoon was motivated by hate, authorities said.

The Tops Friendly Market where the shooting took place is located in the heart of Buffalo's Black community and 11 of the 13 people shot by the White suspect were Black, officials said.

But he was driven by Tucker Carlson's "replacement theory". I posted this article on another thread

Tucker has already responded (cross posted from the pics thread)

"So what is hate speech? Well, it's speech your leaders hate. So because a mentally ill teenager murdered strangers, you cannot be allowed to express your political views out loud. That's what they're telling you." ~ Fox News' Tucker Carlson

Before Massacre Began, Suspect Invited Others to Review His Plan
Jonah E. Bromwich

About 30 minutes before he launched what investigators said was a long-planned massacre at a Buffalo supermarket, Payton S. Gendron invited a small group of people to join a chat room online.

Until that moment, the posts in the room on the chat application Discord had been visible only to Mr. Gendron, who had for months uploaded numerous pictures of himself, often posing with his gear and the weapon that officials say he used to carry out the shooting, even sharing hand-drawn maps of the Tops grocery store he openly said he planned to attack.

None of the people he invited to review his writings appeared to have alerted law enforcement, and the massacre played out much as Mr. Gendron envisioned.

A compendium of his posts from Discord circulated online over the weekend, and details of those records were ...

Red flags behind mass killings

As the shooting deaths of 10 Black people in a Buffalo supermarket blasted into the public consciousness last weekend, a familiar question was raised. Were there warning signs?

There were, as is common. They went unheeded, as is common.

The alleged shooter in the Buffalo killings, Payton S. Gendron, 18, was asked about his plans for after graduation by a teacher last year.

“I want to murder and commit suicide,” Gendron replied.

He was referred to a hospital for a mental health evaluation and counseling, but released after 36 hours. In his lengthy online statement he said he lied to the counselors during the exam. A red flag order to remove guns from his possession, legal in New York and 18 other states, was never sought. Follow-up that could have unearthed his violent, racist and antisemitic online posts and mindset never occurred.

Sound familiar?

Before 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz murdered 17 people at a Parkland, Florida, high school in 2018, he was expelled from there. An email sent to staff said he’d threatened students. The Florida Department of Children and Families investigated, and numerous incidents and online postings showed he was fantasizing about violence. Then he legally bought numerous weapons. It’s Cruz’s story that led to ...

Days after Buffalo mass shooting, the House approves a bill to fight domestic terror
https://www.npr.org/2022/05/18/1099756134/days-after-buffalo-mass-shooting-the-house-approves-a-bill-to-fight-domestic-ter

The bill, the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2022, creates offices at the departments of Homeland Security and Justice and the FBI specifically focused on investigating and tracking domestic terror threats. It also directs these offices to share potential risks and take steps to prevent future attacks.

The legislation had bipartisan support when it was introduced earlier this year. A similar measure was approved by voice vote by the House in September of 2020, just months before the Jan. 6 insurrection. But only one Republican — Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger -- joined all House Democrats to approve the bill late Wednesday evening.

"Spare me the bullshit about mental illness. We don’t have any more mental illness than any other country in the world. You cannot explain this through a prism of mental illness, because we don’t — we’re not an outlier on mental illness. We’re an outlier when it comes to access to firearms and the ability of criminals and very sick people to get their hands on firearms. That’s what makes America different.” - Sen. Chris Murphy

H.R. 8, which would require a background check for every firearm sale, passed in the House on March 11, 2021 and has waited on the Senate.

The shooter was a child himself, at 18. The law may deem him an adult, but that doesn't make it true. And note, another person cared for by someone other than his birth parent. Expect more of this when more women are forced to give birth to children they cannot care for. And those broken people have easy access to guns.

Anyone believe that private sellers will actually follow this?

I'd provide some excerpts from the linked article but the webmaster of that site is "weird" and lodges formal complaints threatening legal action whenever someone does.

‘He kept getting worse and worse’: Uvalde gunman developed morbid fascinations as family life deteriorated
Travis Gettys

Friends grew increasingly concerned about the behavior of an 18-year-old who gunned down at least 19 children and two teachers at a Texas elementary school, but they were still shocked to learn of his brutal actions.

Salvador Rolando Ramos shot and critically wounded his grandmother before going on a rampage at Robb Elementary School with weapons he legally purchased this month, just after turning 18 years old, before he was fatally shot by police, and former friends struggled to process the news after ....

Student caught with AK-47 rifle at Texas high school
BNO News

A student has been arrested after he was caught with an AK-47 rifle outside his high school near Dallas, just a day after one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.

The incident happened at about 10:55 a.m. on Wednesday when someone at a business in Richardson called police to report a man who was holding what appeared to be a rifle. He was last seen walking towards Berkner High School.

“Within minutes of the call being dispatched, numerous police officers from various units within the Richardson Police Department responded to Berkner High School and initiated a search and investigation into this incident,” police said in a statement.

Officers, with the help of the Richardson Independent School District, were able to identity the suspect as a juvenile student of Berkner High School. He was found inside the school, but no weapons were initially found.

“Further investigation led to the discovery of a vehicle used by the suspect in the parking lot of 1551 East Spring Valley Road,” the statement said. “Inside the vehicle, officers observed what appeared to be an AK-47 style pistol and a replica AR-15 style Orbeez rifle.”

The student was arrested and charged with Unlawful Carrying Weapons in a Weapon Free School Zone, a state jail felony. Police declined to release other information due to his age, indicating that the suspect is below the age of 18.

There was no immediate word on why the student had the AK-47 with him.

“The Richardson Police Department would like to remind the public of the importance to report suspicious activity, as we recognize the vigilant awareness and actions of the person who initially called 911 to alert law enforcement,” police said.

The arrest comes just a day after an 18-year-old man opened fire at an elementary school west of San Antonio, killing 21 people and injuring 17 others in one of the worst shootings in U.S. history. Most of the victims were young children.
