For those of you who are thinking of disconnecting your cable TV (or if you already have), there is a site I use often that more than takes up the slack in entertainment and information value:
http://www.justin.tv/Click on the blue
"Explore" button to enter the directories. A thumbnail list of broadcasters opens. Go to the top and scroll your cursor over the
Live Channels link and a drop-down list opens. There you will find Entertainment, News and Events, Science and Tech among other categories. Each category contains thumbnailed lists of
people who are broadcasting their satellite or cable feed directly through the internet. For example, the News and Events category has some people broadcasting the cable news networks including CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, Fox etc. The entertainment section has a lot of people broadcasting everything including TV series, documentaries, movies etc. Quality between the various broadcasters is inconsistent but with a little exploring, you begin to find some of the very best ones.
This is a worthwhile site. It is a valid resource and more than worthy of exploration. If there's any downside, it does have a lot of pop-up windows when you first go into a broadcasters' site - but they're kept to a minimum and are unobtrusive when watching the broadcast in full screen mode.
