I think Meryl Streep is America's best actress. I think the most heart wrenching performance of all time was her impossible dilemma as the Mother in "Sophie's Choice." I think she should have won oscars for:

The French Lieutenant's Woman
Out of Africa
Doubt


I really would have given last year's Iron Lady oscar to Viola Davis, but it seems the Academy value biographical performances.

That said I HATED Hope Springs. I also HATED Meryl Streep's performance in Hope Springs. It's the story of long marrieds who want to put the zing back in their marriage. I thought Streep portrayed her character as trivial and insipid. Anyway I WOULD NOT recommend this film. It is not remotely a comedy as it appears to be advertised on the DVD box.
