Jason and I went to the 1:40 showing of Blue Jasmine.

Shockingly there must have been 50 people there. We are used to matinees where we are the only ones there. Jason was by far the youngest attendee, and I was probably the second youngest. LOL!!!

Much has been written on Cate Blanchett's marvelous performance of a thinly veiled Ruth Madoff. She wasn't playing Ruth Madoff at all, but Blanche DuBois from A Streetcar Named Desire. Alec Baldwin played her Ponzi scheming husband, Hal, who committed suicide in prison. Jasmine came to stay with her grocery clerk sister, Ginger, in San Francisco. Jasmine looked down on Ginger, her two sons, her ex-hubby, her new boyfriend all the while searching for a new gentleman caller.

I like Woody Allen films. This one isn't as good as Midnight in Paris, but is much better than To Rome with Love. Blanchett will probably win an Oscar for this role. Andrew Dice Clay was great as her ex-brother in law.
