I watched the pilot premiere of Hostages last night ~ Dylan McDermott plays a VERY hard-ass rogue FBI agent who intends to kill the president ~ his MO of choice is taking a surgeon's family [hubby and 2 self-absorbed teens] hostage to force her [played by Toni Colette] to kill the prez during "routine surgery" ~ Dylan's character also has a "softer" side, visiting his comatose wife in the hospital and caring for his young daughter ~ last night's episode introduced most of the characters ~ the motive remains a mystery, and there are many competing storylines ~ time will tell if this is an excellent series or too soap opera-ish ~

Thanks for the review. We haven't seen this yet and to me the previews didn't entice me want to watch it. I'll try to catch it online.

I'm watching it now and am a little confused. When I checked IMDb, this is how the cast is listed. As you can see Dylan McDermott is listed for only 2 episodes, Toni Collette for 4 and the children for 5. Strange, since I thought Dylan McDermott was the star.....
