Although I didn't watch the Oscars (never do), I got a viewing list. many I already knew I wanted to watch. In no particular order, other than when they come out "on demand".

The Imitation Game
The Theory of Everything
Birdman
The Judge
Boyhood
Still Alice (never heard of it, but Julianne Moore won best actress. About Alzheimer's)

Did you ever finish these? I saw all save for Still Alice.

Only The Imitation Game. Sadly. What did you think of the others?

I just got Still Alice from redbox. I will review shortly.

I liked but didn't love any of them, Roseanne. I am befuddled why Birdman won Best Picture. Jason thinks it's a film about an actor voted for by actors. I think the acting was better than the film in The Theory of Everything. Boyhood was shot over the course of 12 years. Jeff complained not much happened over those 12 years so it was dull.

Whiplash was pretty good. I'd add that to your list. JK Simmons won the supporting award for being the abusive drum teacher.

Still Alice was good not great. Julianne Moore was better than the film about a Columbia Linguist who got early onset familial Alzheimer's. Alec Baldwin played her husband who loved her but could not care for her. He actually left for work in Cincinnati while her younger daughter cared for her. Kristin Stewart played her actress daughter who Mom always wanted to go to college for something to fall back on. Seems the one with the most contentious relationship was the one there for her in the end.

It's a very sad story. I actually think it was sanitized for film but it's still interesting.
