I watched part of Stephen Colbert's debut show last night ... and was disappointed ~ he seemed too hyper ~ I remember him performing at Second City [a comedy/improv club] here in Chicago when he was first starting out, and he was hilarious without being hyper ~ he did do a decent job with his opening monologue ... until he got to comments on Trump [which is when the "hyper" kicked in] and a decent job with George Clooney [his 1st guest] ~ but his 2d guest was Jeb Bush, which is when I turned it off ~

Anyone else see last night's debut?

Sooz

I fell asleep before Clooney came out. lol Not that it was boring, just a long day. But the enthusiasm was a blast!

Loved the Trump/cookie bit. And the "Mentalist" button...clever way to address the issue of network censorship.

I think it's going to take some time to tame the "Report" persona and find new comedy footing as himself. It almost felt like he was stepping in and out of that character at times. Not that I minded!
