I'm not the brightest bulb, but I really enjoy some of the shows where people use their brains instead of violence for violence. Numbers has been on a while now. The people use math to figure out sequences that may help them tell where the next crime will be etc. It's fascinating and very believeable. The Eleventh Hour is a new series. I love it. Strange things happen. They bring in this science specialist, protected by the FBI to figure it out. Last night was figuring how this spring water cured this young boys tumor but made others sick. The guy can use some common everyday things to do a test and help explain things.

I like the concept of Numbers, and agree that it's nice when shows highlight using brains instead of violence to fight crime, but I never did find Numbers believable enough, and just couldn't suspend disbelief enough to get into it. I don't know why. There are other shows that I KNOW are completely unrealistic, like all the CSI shows, but I can still enjoy them and overlook the pseudoscience in them (except the Miami one...I can't get past Horatio being too much like a robot...my favorite is the one in Vegas; I love Grisham, he reminds me so much of some crazy profs I've known in my day). I still miss MacGuyver.

Yes, but alas, Grisham is gone.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent. I can now act along with most of the episodes, especially with Goren and Eames.

As for the CSI: Miami, it is strange how rock music plays in the background every time they do something in the lab. I also wonder if all the real CSI's in the country are packed with young women who are an "11" on a scale of "10". And, if they are allowed to interrogate witnesses, carry guns, and chase the criminals. Kinda makes the rest of the police force and the detectives a little useless.

I watch Law & Order in phases. I'll get into it for a while, then get tired of it and drop it, then watch reruns for a while. I think it's the whole "ripped from the headlines" approach. Sometimes I get a good laugh at recognizing the headline it's based on, and sometimes it ruins it for me because it's too easy to figure out the ending too early. In the latter case, if I watch it again later when the news story isn't so fresh in my mind, I can enjoy it again.

The CSI shows are making it really hard on prosecutors in criminal trials. Too many people believe those shows represent what real cops and lawyers should be able to provide in evidence and have too high of expectations if they are jurors on a trial. I'm not sure if I enjoy them for the story lines or for the laughs I get over the far-fetched science. One of the old stand-bys in all these types of shows is the "enhancement" of the blurry, grainy, surveillance video from some store that they then zoom in and get some perfectly clear, crisp photo of a suspect. That always gives me a chuckle.
