This sounds interesting and I've seen a few clips. The review I read today gave it high marks. Another I'll  probably watch, but on the TV later on.

LOL, it's a new George Clooney movie  in which he has a serious role, but has a lot of comedy too. Here's the review:

Midnight in Paris (Woody Allen film with Owen Wilson playing Woody time traveling in Paris.  I liked it.)
Bridesmaids (Never took it seriously.   I will have to watch On-demand).

Another one I'm looking forward to: Mission Impossible 4.  Probably will wait to rent it.

The Descendants was written and directed by Alexander Payne (Sideways/Hung (HBO)).   Without George Clooney, I do not think this film would have been green-lit and with George it is an oscar front-runner.

We meet the King family in a hospital room in Hawaii.  The wife/mother has been critically injured in a speed boat accident.  Matt King, played by Clooney, is descended from Hawaiian royalty and deciding to which developer he will sell the family's large parcel of land on Kauii.  King reconnects to his daughters (neither precocious) and they all say "Goodbye" to Mother. 

My husband and son liked the film.  I didn't.  I think the matter-of-factness of it all just did not sit well with me.
