Samsung Smart Blu-ray Player (BD-E5400/ZC) - Black

Enjoy movies, music, and more with this Samsung Blu-ray player. You can watch high-definition Blu-ray entertainment, and play your DVDs and CDs. Delivering Full HD 1080p resolution, your favourite film has never looked better. With networking options and built-in internet streaming apps like Netflix and Youtube, you don't even need a disc to enjoy great content.

The rest of the specs:

What does any of that mean? What good would it do me? Would it be worth the bother? Could I surf the net on the tv? How would I do that without a keyboard? Would it only be useful for streaming movies and such? It has Netflix and YouTube built in. What does that mean?

So many questions. Maybe because I have to ask so many questions, I should just leave it alone before I wade into something I don't understand. Sigh. I FEEL SO OLD!!!

Keep in mind that we are going to purchase a Blu-ray player soon anyway.....

Limited options, not a full-fledged browser. Try to type with a remote control or a virtual keyboard on your screen.

I watch TV (cable) on my HDTV, doubling as my monitor, which is connected to my computer via my video card.
TV is just another window which I can minimize etc and use with remote control and with mouse and keyboard.
I could imagine though that you could set up something similar via a network.
Good price on that Samsung blue ray player.

Thanks jab! It looks like it has features I wouldn't use. It is a good price, but with all the extra bells and whistles, that's just more that can go wrong. I'll wait to find a regular blu-ray player. They've had some really good deals and we aren't in a hurry.

I don't really need my tv to be a monitor anyway, lol. Hubby hogs the tv and I play on the 'puter. If we need to browse in the living room, we use the tablet with the wifi.

TOO MANY GADGETS!! :eek2 roflmao!

roseanne: A friend of mine has a similar device. It has built-in links to streaming TV and Netflix that you navigate with the remote control.
