Jab, I ran a Spybot scan and caught a piece of malware. Unfortunately, Spybot couldn't remove it. Is there some way for me to remove it manually? Screenshot provided.

Update spybot. There was an error in the last version. The new one fixes that problem.

Hello,

If you have this error just download the latest updates.
This should fix it.

Thanks for getting back to me, Jab. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I still get the same results from the updated scan.

your error is a false positive anyway, but irritating.

Installed the new version and ran the scan. This time it took out the malware (I scanned it again after the fix, just to make sure).

Made me check my own spybot, downloaded newest version and I had a little bit of crap on my computer.
All is well now, right?

But I may have another question for you...

What? Why does the new version scan so much faster or what? ;)

No, the other question has nothing to do with Spybot.

I want to set up a dual boot with Linux Mint and burned a copy to a dvd to try it out first to see if I like it better than Ubuntu. Well, I booted into it OK but then I had problems with the internet connection. Mint kept trying to connect and couldn't and so I could only use it offline. When I shut down the computer and went back into Windoze, no problems connecting to the internet. Any ideas about how I could get this to work?

System info:
iBuypower computer
Intel Core i3
8 gb ram
500 gb hard drive

There seems to be a problem with windows to release the IP config so Mint can't connect.
This thread gives a few hints. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=133185

Maybe you could try resetting your modem when booting into Mint?

OK, I'm going to try resetting the modem first. If that doesn't work, I'll try the "ipconfig/release" from the link. Wish me luck!

OK, neither of those solutions worked. Something I noticed though is that when I boot the Mint dvd, the ethernet light on my modem goes off and the usb light comes on. When I'm in Windoze, the lights are normal, ethernet on and usb light off. I don't know if that info helps...

Maybe I can research that tomorrow a bit more. It seems that your network in Mint isn't correctly set up for some reason.
