....and it's actually quite nice for home use. I haven't an opinion otherwise. Not network savvy enough to even offer an opinion on that end. If you are looking for a fun, new operating system, don't be afraid of 8.1. I actually dig it....lol

p.s. 8 is a piece of shit. If you're buying a new system, and you want' to progress beyond 7, make sure it's 8.1 and not 8. Just take my word for it.

I've got 8.1 on my laptop and I like it. I'm just waiting for some good open source software to come out for it now.

I installed Open Office 4.1.1 and it runs well on 8.1.

Thanks for the reminder, Del. I hadn't yet d/l OpenOffice on my new computer. I used that for years on old Vista computer (when it was Sun microsystems) and I love it! Download from Cnet. For me, my virus scanner (AVG) deleted it as a Trojan from the Apache site, lol.
