Jabra, I don't know if this is related but I just updated my Advanced System Care scan and now, when I try to open a new window with VoC or whatever open, all I get is a blank page ~ any suggestions?

Go into ASC at the top right >settings > Surfing Protection and unselect it, restart browser and see if it makes a difference

What's the version number of your ASC?

I just updated mine, but no problems. However, mine is the free version.

Just an idea. Have you rebooted? Tried a different browser?

I have rebooted a couple of times ~ it seems to work in Chrome and FF [neither of which I've updated recently] ~

Do you think it's safe to try the Microsoft "fix-it tool"?

Try it, Sooz.
But if everything works with other browsers it tells me it's the damn IE again.

Microsoft Fix-It Tool for IE didn't work [unless I picked the wrong focus] ~ maybe I should try the Microsoft Fix-It Tool for Windows [instead of for IE]? ~ I don't think I have any add-ons to IE, but I'll check that too ~ in the meantime, I decided to roll back to ASC7 ~ but that didn't fix the blank page problem ~ I can work around it, but it's a pain in the ass ~ any other suggestions?

Find a restore point before your update. That fixes most of the problems I have after an update install.

Sorry I didn't come back to this thread til now ~ ASC8 is fine and works great ~ lots of new areas to scan ~ my first attempt to update got screwed up somehow ~ or at least I think that's what it was ~ I uninstalled the update, went back to ASC7, and then reinstalled ASC8 and everything is working fine ~

I also found something interesting in my internet "tab" settings ~ there is a choice for what shows when you open a new window - you choose between a blank page, a new tab page, or your first home page ~ somehow, my setting was changed to "blank page" from "my first home page" ~ once I switched back, all is good ~

You can have multiple "home pages" open up if you separate the links with a comma.
When I open my browser I have four tabs open automatically.
