...from my Tracks Eraser Pro. When I click on "Erase" to clean everything out, I get a pop-up message "Google Chrome is running. Please shut down" I DON'T have Google Chrome! I don't want it. I can't find it in my programs anywhere. Any suggestions?

You probably did install google chrome inadvertenly. I'm not sure right now which programs try to sneak in chrome as a browser unless you specifically unselect "Install Chrome" but it happened to me a few times.

Ctrl+Alt+Delete should open task manager. Check running programs and/or processes.

Control panel >>> programs and features >> I'm sure you'll find chrome in the list of installed programs. Just uninstall.

Thanks for the quick response. Nope. Not listed in task manager and not listed in programs in control panel, but still popping up when I try to run Tracks Eraser. I've sent an email to them, so we'll see what they say.

Maybe you have a Lenovo laptop and "Location awareness" or maybe some malware?

I don't have Lenovo. I have noticed that the Google page, which IS my home page, asks if I want to make Google my home page. I don't get that on the laptop. So, I'm thinking that it has something to do with it. Not sure. Hubby just d/l Firefox and did a half-dozen updates when we finally got our satellite internet.

Did a malware scan, but it didn't find anything.

Thanks for the link, but it's all greek to me lol. I can't find "Extensions" in "Tools" and not sure I feel comfortable doing that. It really doesn't affect much other than my Tracks Eraser. Not hogging my Ram or anything. It just bugs me that something is running and I can't shut it down.

Edited to add: I disabled "location tracking". Didn't change anything.

roseanne, you may have missed our Opera thread from a few weeks ago ~ the more I use it, the more I like it ~ I'm finding it to be a smoother and easier transition than Google Chrome or FireFox ~
