Dell Inspirion 15 laptop.

Started a few months ago. Top left corner of the screen and growing vertically and horizontally. Black lines (lack of graphics?). Started cutting across my search bar and is about to start cutting through forward/back arrows.

Laptop hasn't been wet, dropped or near anything magnetic.

I'm thinking it's just a hardware issue and there's no cyber-tinkering that can correct it?

There used to be but I'd have to check and see if it's still open. Hubby hasn't had a chance to putter with it yet but we did run a full backup over the weekend, just in case.

Backup is a smart move, but I'm betting that it's the monitor and not the computer.

Still growing a little every day. Homework on this says we'd need to connect to an external monitor to narrow down where the problem is. Not sure we have one, lol.

But there are other wonky things going on too. Shuts down completely if I disconnect the power cord, even though battery is supposedly fully charged. Makes it nearly impossible to print anything since the printer lives in a different room.

Hubby seems to think it's just "time to replace this laptop". :(

Maybe it's something on the motherboard?

Will pass that notion along to hubby, thanks.

We have a kitchen sink issue that's more pressing at the moment....LOL.
