Administrator Joined: 11/07/08 Posts: 42112	This is very strange ~ I downloaded Google Earth many months ago ~ I noticed maybe 6 weeks ago, after a windows update, that the icon was missing from my desktop but I never did anything about that because it was still listed in my programs ~ well, today, the desktop icon is back ~ it returned all by itself ~ ~ any ideas why/how this happened? Sooz

	Win-doze XP is known to have a mind of it's own. My Google Earth icon did the same thing a few weeks ago.

	Sometimes, Windows will do a clean-up of your desktop and remove any icons that don't get used that often. I have no icons at all on my screen, because I don't like a lot of garbage messing up my wallpaper, but I do like having the icons in the system tray at the bottom.

	You can turn off the "Cleanup Desktop" function... it's by no means a hard and fast rule in XP.
