Just wondering if anyone has seen/heard any rumblings about problems with Google Chrome in the past few days. (Specifically, any new conflict with GC and Facebook.)

After a day of running in circles around "aw, snap!" messages, hubby finally had to uninstall Google Chrome and I'm back to IE. So far so good, but still very strange-it was just fine when I logged off last night.

I've never used GC.

Back to IE?!?

Join the growing Firefox community. Less security risks and no flaws as far as I can tell.

I must say I am quite happy with Firefox!! Take the plunge, Chaos. Leave the dark side and come into the light...............Image

btw jab, I have been so darn busy and by the time I settle down in front of the computer during the week it's very late for you. So far, so good with everything. I have maintained the tools you d/l for our session and will be updating and using those regularly.

No problem. All I wanted to know if the scrambled lines in your registry were cleaned up. Maybe you can look on your own and tell me.

Not sure if I changed back the startup menu from the classic look to the fancy version which you had when I started.
If I didn't, you can change it to your preferred look via right clicking the start button >> properties >>start menu or classic start menu.
To check the registry, go to start >> run  and type regedit. Hit enter.
Expand either HKEY Classes Root or HKEY Current User.
Under one of those two there were almost all lines unreadable. Then just close the registry.
Let me know so I can finally sleep well. Image

Oops, there are still a bunch of lines that are unreadable.Image Numbers and letters. Wish I could copy and paste them here.  I had to change my Start menu back to classic to find the "run" option. I wondered where that went, LOL! Used to have to delete/renew my IP address with the other provider all the damn time.

Now what?

edited to add: I was so late replying because of dinner, then a movie at home........Toy Story 3. One of the few series of 3 that I've liked every one. This one even brought a tear to the eye of crusty hubby. LOL!

Well, my system seems fine now-back on GC.  (We only went with IE temporarily because it was all we had, honest. LOL) But others are now reporting similar problems to what I had going on, and several games have had issues this week too. So it wasn't just me.

Someday, when all is calm and we aren't so overwhelmed with other stuff, we'll explore the Firefox option. I'm just really really bad at adapting to change with my computer-a machine I use all the time but don't trust to begin with. Image
