Stevie Nelson has dedicated every day since his sixth birthday to helping more animals feel loved. Stevie has been featured on numerous websites, news broadcasts, and local & national newspapers. Stevie's message has been clear and consistant in each of his interviews.....He wants to help more animals.....feel loved. Stevie lost both of his labrador retreivers, Bo and Luke, just days before Stevie turned five years old. His only fifth birthday wish was to have his beloved boys come back, that was a wish his parents were unable to grant. After seeing a PSA for the ASPCA, Sarah McLaughlan's sad, sad song, "Angel" inspired Stevie to want to help more animals feel loved. It was SO important to Stevie that his "furry friends" without FURever homes feel loved, that he decided to dedicate his sixth birthday to helping local animals in need. NENEHS is currently raising funds to build a 1 million dollar facility north of Norfolk, Nebraska. Once built, this will be the only shelter in a five county region. Stevie's 6th Birthday Wish was to raise $6,000 in monetary donations and enough toys, treats, food and collars to  "fill our truck full"....all to benefit the NENEHS and their foster care animals. Stevie raised over $38,600 in monetary donations, as well as $6000 in product donations to benefit the NENEHS for his "birthday wish". In addition, he brought awareness for a much needed shelter in Northeast Nebraska, as well as raising awareness for the need of Foster Care Families for his "furry friends". Stevie finds comfort in knowing that he is honoring his missing boys, Bo and Luke, by helping misfortuned/unwanted pets in need. Stevie's efforts to help his furry friends in need has sparked national attention. The ASPCA has named Stevie the ASPCA's 2011 Tommy P. Monahan "Kid of the Year".Stevie joined six other extraordinary people and pets at the Humane Awards in New York City in November 2011. Stevie most recently teamed up with the ASPCA Dog of the Year, Surf Dog Ricochet for a fundraiser! Stevie's Kritter Toy Drive raised over $1,450 in monetary donations and over $10,000 in product donations for animals in need! Stevie will be donating a case of Cloud Star Treats (thanks to the awesome folks at Cloud Star Pet Products) to a Shelter/Rescue in each state in the USA. In addition, Stevie will be making a product donation to Shelters and Rescue across the state of Nebraska. Stevie will continue to advocate for animals in need and is thankful to each and every person that is willing to help him along his journey..... "to help more animals feel loved". Stevie, with the help of his parents, are starting Stevie's Furry Friends, Inc. (501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization - pending) with the hope of being able to help MORE animals in need across both locally and nationally!
"Because all animals need love..." ~Stevie
