I know it's too late, but going south would have been a magnificent experience too. From Cannon Beach down to Tilamook is spectacular. You can often see whales working their way up the coast at this time of year too. Incidentally, as cheesy as it sounds a tour of the Tilamook cheese factory is quite interesting as well as tasty.

I drove from Portland down the coast to Gold Beach- it was breathtaking!
And the tsunami warning signs had the desired effect- yikes!and I love Tilamook cheese.

Time to check in gramps. Haven't "heard" from you since the 24th or so.......

We're in Wisconsin, 180 miles from home in Super 8. I have siblings in this town, spent time with them this pm. Feels good to be in the land of green pastures and fat cows again. Last several days were just pounding across Dakota and MN. MORE LATER.

Almost home is great!!!

Home at last. Dealing with 3 weeks of mail. Tomatoes need harvesting, also sweet corn. And grapes. Grass is long and going to seed. I lost a golf ball in it.
