Naked man breaks into Vancouver home, cooks eggs, gets arrested

Vancouver police hope the story of a man who broke into a home, stripped naked and began cooking eggs will encourage people to lock their doors.

Police say a man walked into a home near Cambie Street and King Edward Avenue through a closed but unlocked door, around 8 p.m.Tuesday.

They say the 35-year-old removed his shoes and all his clothing, took eggs out out of the refrigerator and began cooking, damaging the store and microwave in the process.

The resident of the home was watching TV in another room and, according to police, thought the noise he was hearing was his roommate.

When he went to investigate, he found the naked stranger and chased him out of the home.

Officers arrested the suspect, still naked, a few blocks away and are recommending charges of mischief and break-and-enter.

Vancouver police say it's not the first time they've arrested a naked man breaking into a home to cook eggs.

In July of 2013, a 30-year-old from Burnaby was arrested doing the same thing after breaking into a Vancouver home,

Police say there have been 1,600 residential break-ins in Vancouver this year, many of which involved unlocked doors.

Several years ago I was upstairs doing something or other and heard some noise downstairs. I went downstairs and there was an unknown lady sitting on the loo doing her business.
