We got married in 1993, and it was our wedding gift from my mom. It was my FIRST and only microwave. LOL!

Hubby did some homework and ordered one today, we'll pick it up at Best Buy on Thursday. Not looking forward to getting used to a new one, but here we go.

Adios, my microwave pal. You served us well. :\'(

Sorry Chaos. You'll love your new microwave, I'm sure. They have changed and improved a lot since 93.

Bet it won't last 23 years, though.

Be nice to it. It has a very long journey behind it in a cramped container.

Every so often some kind of appliance or gizmo exceeds the usual lifespan by a LOT. :lol

I still have my stereo/turntable from @1979, I think? When you aren't in the habit of always upgrading to the latest and greatest ______ you really get to find out what lasts. :lol

I'll try, jab. It'll have a life of leisure here. We don't nuke much.

True, you'll save a fortune in coal and your new one will sit on the counter so you can re-purpose the microwave room into a sewing room or something.

Don't forget, now you can watch via Youtube how to touch stuff on the front to set time, start and all kinds of things. No more mechanical timers with huge round knobs.

Is hubby now also looking to upgrade that 1930 ice box? :D
