First, there was a major accident between Golden and Revelstoke (west bound from Golden) that shut down the #1 highway for hours and hours. The amount of semis parked along the highway, in many of the businesses parking lots and along secondary roads was astounding. Then there were the thousands of tourists. All of the eating joints were rockin' with business.
Then, just about the time they were to open up the road, this happened:

Flooding has closed Highway 1 just west of Revelstoke.
RCMP in Revelstoke have issued a release saying the route 25 kilometres west of the city will be closed for at least two days.
Because there was already a glut of parked vehicles in Revelstoke, this bulletin was issued by DriveBC:
Quote:
Highway 1 Closed westbound from Golden, local traffic only due to vehicle capacity in Revelstoke. Use alternate route. Updated on Sat Jun 10 at 7:06 am PDT.
What a mess! I feel the most sorry for the truckers. Tourists can find a ton of things to do here......well, except for the fact that it's raining today, lol.
