I loved school and learning but if I had been in one of these rooms, I would've loved it even more. How great are these? As an aside, I'm pretty certain most of the teachers paid for these with their own funds. Only posting one pic and the link. Many others at the link.

I remember decorated bulletin boards, but that's about it. Utilitarian desks/tables, dull green..GREEN..walls (which I found out later were thought to keep children calm), and not much else.

I call that colour "Institution Green". Personally, I think it's an amalgam of all the little bits of paint left in half-empty cans mixed together and used up to save money. There's no other reason for it.

"Institution Green"! That's what we called it. Thanks for the reminder. They painted prisons and mental hospitals the same color. I'm not sure about the left over bits, but I do remember reading somewhere about the presumed "calming effect" of that particular color.
