Home alone tonight, following Repub debate on the computer, just reading the words, such obvious pandering drivel. Plus clicking on various political sites and reading crap invective. TV is on with no sound, three cop shows in a row, must have seen 75 people murdered and murderers subsequently shot dead by good guys. Papers full of controversy -Walker recall, etc. Radio full of country music with tales of lost love, betrayal, other types of misery. Cold grey weather. Sick of it all.

People who exaggerate circumstances to make them look more victimized. Image Won't bore you with the details other than to say people are idiots if they make statements that can be proven to be inaccurate and over-stated.

Doctors who simply don't understand that some of us can't afford to just zip to specialists or have extra testing done until we have enough $ saved up. Especially when it was already explained to them that it might take a little while. I appreciate your concern, but don't appreciate the guilt trip.

No kidding, Chaos. When I had no insurance, the doctors acted the same way. "You need to see a surgeon" like I could just hop over to the surgeons office right away, not to mention the stress of wondering if I needed any surgery. Image

When it comes to healthcare, I am so thankful to be living in Canada when I read about the "American Experience".

Yeah, me too. I can remember the feeling of utter relief when I got my health care card. It was like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Even before that, I only paid $35 for a visit to the clinic to get my BP checked and my Rx, plus my BP meds cost about 2/3 of what I paid in the US. Image Healthcare (unless they screw it up, lol) will probably be the major reason I won't go back to live in the US. Even when I'm old enough for Medicare, it pretty much sucks.

Sorry, Chaos, I know that doesn't make you feel any better about your situation. ImageImage Sending positive thoughts your way~~~~~~~~~~~

No worries, roseanne. I'm jealous, of course, but no hard feelings. lol
My mom is the one giving me the guilt trips lately..."go ahead! just set up a payment plan!"....yeah, like we need to rack up debt right now.

Suddenly, we're getting "important messages about" "our account" from Sallie Mae, with a name I don't recognize. I fought with their phone prompts for over 20 minutes and finally had to pretend I was a customer to get to a live person. ( I made him verify that none of our SS# are in play on that account, and he said they'd remove our phone number, but it could take 48 hours.)

Every business-I don't care who they are or what they do- needs a default prompt for when none of the automatic menu choices apply.

There used to be a great www.gethuman.com site that allowed you to type in the name of the company and then displayed how to get thru the voicemail commands ~ but I'm not sure it's still in existence ~ might be worth a try, tho ~

Sooz

A while ago, my internet went down so I tried calling the cable company. It's a 1-800 number so I figured no big deal... I was on hold for 45 minutes and because the clock struck 5, I got a message that said "The office is now closed, please call our message center." and it hung up!!!!! It wouldn't have been so bad if I were calling them on the MagicJack, but that requires an internet connection so I had to call them on my cell... at 35¢ a minute that wasted call cost me over $15!!!

Chaos... try this: firmly grip the telephone handset and pound it on your desk @ 20 times. It probably won't work but you will feel better.

I love the message on our internet providers hold AFTER you've picked "internet service center".

"Having problems with your internet? Please visit our website at www. biteme. com. Image Uh. Ummm. I WOULD if I COULD, but then I wouldn't need YOU, would I? Image

My peeve for today (and all the other days it happens, lol):

Pump bottles that quit pumping the liquid with 2 inches of product left in the bottom. Is it really that expensive to add another inch or two to the tube? Really?  I know what you want me to do. Buy more of your expensive product before I need it, because I can't get the rest out!

That burns me up. I know if you have a thin liquid, you can add those polished glass pebbles to bring the level up so that the pump works again. With lotion, it doesn't work that well. I could cut the bottle in half and dip the crap out, but if you don't use much every day it dries out quickly since it's mostly expensive water anyway. Sigh. So, I'm left with pulling the pump out, hammering it down to the opening to get it out.Image

I hate those pump bottles. Just so you know... food packaging (jars and cans especially) is designed to make it near impossible to get all the product out.

roseanne...try this:

remove pump and toss
cover the top of the lotion bottle with plastic wrap-a layer or two- seal with rubber band
poke small hole in wrap
create "cap" with tin foil
store upside down ( I use a big old plastic cup for balance if I need to)
voila! now you can squeeze to get contents out

(keep upside down until done)
I love Gold Bond lotion, but they do the pump that's too short thing and it makes me nuts. lol

I have two "good" Baker's Secret cookie sheets, that I use exclusively for cookies. I have other sheets for other stuff. I have two beat up nasty old sheets to use when the need arises-usually for arts and crafts.

Seems kiddo snagged one of my GOOD ones out of the kitchen to use with her pottery wheel project. Hubby helped. That's what I get for leaving those two unsupervised!!ImageImage

Got so caught up in filling bins this afternoon...I totally forgot about my dentist appointment. Oops. Receptionist called, and it turned out I had the wrong time written down anyway, so even if I had remembered, I would have been late.Image Good grief. LOL

LOL Chaos, my Dad used to do the same thing to my Mom........on her dining room table no less! The scratches on it had nothing to do with us kids.  She would buy new scissors or knives and wonder why they got dull so quickly. Dad used them for everything from stripping wires to impromptu screwdrivers. Image  It's not like he didn't have tools AND a workbench, but they were in the shed out back. Image
