After reading the Pat Robertson thread, I thought of this very irreverent song to the tune of "Just a Closer Walk With Thee"

After posting this, I was wondering why I did, other than my warped sense of humor. I think it's because when I think of Robertson, I think "yahoo". He's an ignorant prick, only after the glory of fame and the almighty dollar. In any event, this song popped into my mind.Image Go figure.

Can you imagine this guy (Lil Jimmy Dickens) sitting in church as a young boy, making up these lyrics with his friends after having heard the melody hundreds of time? Image  My friends and I used to do the same thing.

Edited to add: He and his friends were probably thinking of the traditional country Sunday dinner, especially during the depression. Butter beans were plentiful and filling, cooked with some ham hock for flavor. Add some cornbread, yummm.

Turnip sandwich??????  To be honest, I think it sounds good.  I might try one someday.  Of course this is coming from a guy whose favorite sandwich is peanut butter and dill pickle.

I can fix that, Chaos ~ but the last time I helped get a song out-of-mind, people claimed my 'fix' was at least equally bad to the one they were trying to forget ~ Image
