The Humane Society of Putnam County in Greencastle, IN is being forced to shut their doors due to a lack of funding. They are currently housing 30 dogs and 51 cats that need to find homes by the end of the month. They are a private, non-profit organization that relies heavily on donations and volunteers. Like most shelters who open their doors to unwanted, unloved and homeless animals, they are full. And like most shelters, they struggle to stay open.
Now the time has come where the Humane Society of Putnam County can no longer stay open. Unfortunately for the unsuspecting animals, their fate now lies in the hands of the community. This shelter has been ordered to euthanize any animal that does not find a foster, adopter or rescue by September 30th. The only thing these dogs and cats are guilty of is being born. And being born into a struggling economy. Because man has dug himself such a deep debt, millions of animals around the country are dying and now 81 more will be added to that list unless caring, giving and warm individuals step up to save them.
Open Tue-Sun 12pm-5pm
