Okay....so last month one of our local rock radio stations had their big summer concert and it POURED ALL DAY. Not gentle summer showers, but relentless wet and of course we had lawn seats. Every act that day made it a point to give a shout-out to the approx. 20,000 hardcore fans getting drenched. lol

So just before the last act came on, they announced that LiveNation would be giving everybody free tickets to the Slipknot/Marilyn Manson show as a thank you for sticking it out. :) Now, I'm not a big fan of either group. But hey-free tickets? Count me in!

Marilyn Manson was okay. It was still light out during their set and I think his style sort of requires darkness. LOL

Slipknot took the stage and I was captivated within 30 seconds. Not because I love that style of music but because of the sheer showmanship and musical talent going on. I don't even want to *guess* how many calories they burn in one show, especially in the summer heat AND wearing masks. And despite a lot of screaming profanities from Corey Taylor, there were moments where he actually did sing like a normal person :lol and it turns out he has a beautiful voice. They even dedicated one song to a little girl-"Lainey" who is battling cancer and calls it her "Fight Song!".

So anyway...towards the end of the evening Corey mentioned that he was "only allowed one jump a night" because he was performing after recent surgery for a broken neck. :eek2 During the final bows he did take off his neck brace ( it was black and totally blended in all evening, I never even noticed it) and waved it at the crowd. I don't think I've ever heard an audience cheer like that. It was only then that I remembered reading about his injury.

....and here I thought we were "hardcore" for standing in the rain :lol
