Katy emailed this to me the other night ~ I keep reading and rereading it ~ and each time I find something even more true and meaningful than I saw on my prior reading ~ with Katy's permission, I'm posting it here [and have cross-posted it on our General board] ~ I hope you'll take the time to read it ~ and then reread it ~ I'm thinking you will find it as spectacular in its clarity and simple honesty as I do ~ Sooz
In My View
a Hissyism by Katy
Here is my view on the state of the nation
Not a pretty situation
Full of anger and aggravation
The problem is, it's our creation
Working together is out of style
Better to win by using guile
Give an inch but take a mile
Punch and poke, insult to rile
Who cares what the people need
We want to see the other side bleed
Deals and trades to plant the seed
Government by power and greed
Out of the closet bigotry
Religious right and their fantasy
Now "guns for the Lord" I see
Bricks thrown and threats run free
While some go do their nip and tuck
See vampire movies that really suck
Go broke gambling, depending on luck
Others fight just to get a buck
Feed the hungry? that's socialist
UnAmerican ... we must resist
Keep on fighting just to exist
Five bucks of a million would be missed
Instead of help and finding them jobs
We spend our time in teabag mobs
The hungry children...hear their sobs
The soul of our country this thinking robs
Wars and floods and people harried
While politicians fussed and tarried
People downed by burdens carried
But, at least gays can't be married
Warped are our priorities
For the greater good ?..a leftist disease
Give in to fools, we must appease
Hit me again will you please
All the sides bear some fault
Electing golden oldies from the vault
The status quo must come to a halt
Take all they say with a grain of salt
Elect new people who really care
No vote for you if you're unaware
To do right is why we put you there
Compromise principles? Don't you dare
Until we all demand what's right
Elect the people who'll win the fight
Use the power of the people and all it's might
We'll lose good people in the night
We can be sheepies in their yard
To whom they pay no regard
Or we can fix the things they marred
While they hoist themselves with their own petard.
