OMG, the freshness! The taste! We were plied with fresh Beefsteak Tomatoes, corn, raspberries, blueberries, beans, beets among a few other things. Since it was the end of the season, the pickings were dwindling. All of these are grown by the market owners and guaranteed to be from non-GM seeds.
A piece of toast, drizzled extra virgin olive oil with a fat slice of tomato on top. Heaven! Corn on the cob with real butter to die for. Everything was so good. Raspberries and blueberries eaten "naked", which had a great natural sweetness. I haven't had raspberries like that since my Grandpa died. He grew his own.
Sadly the peaches were long gone. Even sadder is that they are being plowed down to plant grapevines for wine, as are the apple orchards.
