Preissenfutter! An abomination to eat a Bratwurst mit Kartoffeln and Rotkohl.
Rotkohl is preissisch. Bratwurst isst ma mit Semmeln and Senf!

Maybe, maybe a potato salad would be acceptable as a side to a bratwurst.

I love brats ~ there is a small local store with a German butcher a few blocks from my apartment that makes ridiculously-expensive and out-of-this-world-delicious veal brats ~ par-boil in beer a few minutes and then finish on a grill = heaven!

Yes, potato salad! Made from the little red potatoes, skins on. Did you know that red potatoes do not have as much starch? I just learned that. We eat them most of the time. I actually prefer the flavor too.

Second pick is sweet potatoes. Packed full of good things. I love them baked with a little butter.

Today I have a small sirloin tip roast in the crock pot, but forgot to buy potatoes. :(
We'll have carrots with mashed this time. I will have some broccoli on the side too.

I forgot to say that there was a little restaurant in my small town in Alabama (in an old train caboose) who served red mashed potatoes, skin on, made with buttermilk. Delicious! Then it burned down and they never rebuilt. I missed that place. Best cornbread I've ever eaten.

Homemade mac and cheese, green beans, red mashed, fried okra (or pinto beans or blackeyed peas) with cornbread and sweet tea was my favorite meal there.

Now my mouth is watering...............lol

I'll bet you would've loved my Mom's fried okra. Coated with flour and cornmeal, pan fried with onions and tiny potato cubes. Fried until almost burned. Heaven!

I haven't had it that way in years. The only fired okra I've had was on our trip, in restaurants. Commercial stuff. Perfectly breaded and deep fried. It's good to me because I only get it when we travel down south, but nothing like my Mom's.

I actually found some fresh okra here the other day!!! :eek Now to get in the right frame of mind to cook it. It's a lot of trouble. lol. Hubby won't touch it either. :b
