About once every few months, we buy Sun-Maid Raisin bread. Because we never eat the end pieces, I have been saving them in the freezer. Today I finally had enough to make a good sized dish of bread pudding. I'd never made it before and I sort of winged it with the recipe. It's good! Next time, I'll buy some golden raisins to add.
Here's my recipe:
8 slices of bread (or so)
1 1/2 cups of milk (or 2 cups)
2 eggs
2 tsp cinnamon
6 tbs of brown sugar
4 tbs butter melted
1/2 tsp or so of vanilla
Cube bread and put in greased 8"X8" baking dish. Mix the other ingredients, pour over bread. Press down with fork (I forgot to do this, sigh, so the bottom is a little soggy) and let sit for about 15 min. Bake at 350F for 40-45 minutes.
Hubby likes his plain. I prefer a sauce, either warm caramel or vanilla. If I was making this for company, I'd use regular slices of bread instead of the heels lol. It's a good way to use up the bread, though.
