Just opened a bottle of local redwine we bought in 2013 - Bear River Compenso 2012 (12.5% alcohol).
Fantastic. So dry it sucks the saliva out of your mouth. Very robust.

If you're on a real budget and have finished drinking the aftershave, you could always try these

You do have to read the reviews.

There used to be on in the US called "Cheap Red Wine" at $5.00/litre bottle. It wasn't bad at all for everyday use.

Does Canada have "Trader Joe's" grocery stores? ~ its Charles Shaw wine label, for both reds and whites, is @$5.00 per and virtually all are highly rated ~ my favorite is the Cabernet/Merlot combo ~

Don't know of any.

Not that I spend a lot of time there but haven't seen any either.

But it really wouldn't matter if they did - outside of Quebec almost all liquor sales (including beer and wine) are thru government run stores.

In Ontario beer is via "Brewers Retail" and everything else is via the "LCBO" (Liquor Control Board of Ontario). The latter does carry a limited selection of beer (mostly imports) and a pretty good selection of wine.

I can think of a couple of stand alone stores that sell Ontario wine but that's it.

Ontario is looking at implementing something similar to Quebec.

But Ontario has to deal with a very powerful union.

I see that the LCBO has just reached an agreement with their union (subject to member approval) - don't know the terms of that deal but I'd be very surprised if that wasn't one of the sticking points.
