Day before, roast prime rib.
Day before that, steamed mussels by the ton...almost.

Tonight? Chili dogs.

YumYumYum.

I'm still holding to my no beef resolution of 2016, but I admit I was very tempted over the weekend. We went to a steakhouse to use up a gift card and maaaannnnn did it smell good in there. lol

Having our annual fiddlehead feed. Didn't think we'd get any because of flooding but...

Just returned from a lobster feast in Hampton, NS. Ate right there on the pier.

Tonight: Tomato butter lobster pasta
Last night: Blah. Didn't feel like cooking so we had chilled asparagus soup with a baguette and some misc. stuff out of the fridge.
Night before: cedar-planked baked Brie, broiled salmon, Parmigiano potato wedges, asparagus and cinnamon cappuccionos.

Ok, re: # 9 chilled asparagus soup was a reclaimed disaster.

We had the "woody" asparagus cuttings left to make a veggie broth. Decided to boil them up with some leek cuttings and onions. Forgot the pot on the stove while doing something else and the water boiled away leaving a half-burned, soggy mess... (gotta "git 'er goin' on 'high", ya know). Anyway, picked the salvageable bits, tossed them into the blender and pureed. Added some cream and fresh mint and tasted... not bad. Added salt, pepper and fresh basil...pretty good. Then figured bacon bits would do the trick so made some.... then sautéed some left-over asparagus spears in the bacon fat. Added it all to the chilled asparagus-cream base and it turned out really good.

For what it's worth.

Have a passport and visa?

We live a bit rough but dammit we eat well and live well while disturbing a wee bit of shyte. We're having a blast.

Tonight we had ginger-lime mussels at the local. AWESOME... along with a couple of local brews (beware of the alcohol content if you're driving). Even got a few more signatures on the petition while having fun.

Edit: The serious part is to enjoy the whole experience of being alive... cuz tomorrow I'll be dead and all of it won't matter worth a toss. So what if we're selfish, self-indulgent buggers. Sue me.

Another edit: The pot is so burned it's still soaking... one of our good Lagostina pots, too, dammit. We paid a small fortune for those suckers but damn, what a difference when cooking up a... misdirected storm.

This is our bit of snobbery: https://www.lagostina.ca/images/legacy% ... %20bay.jpg
